Ferry tale
Istanbul is the only city I have been to where the ferry traffic is so important and inherent to the culture of the place.
Istanbul is a rare city to be spreading over two continents, with the Bosphorus strait forming the dividing line between Europe and Asia. Because of this unique situation, Istanbul, and before, Constantinople, has a very long history of operating ferries across the Bosphorus. This strategic waterway was in fact the only way of crossing until 1973 and the construction of the first Bosphorus bridge.
Nowadays, Istanbul has one of the most efficient and enjoyable ferry system in the world, giving the 300,000 passengers unforgettable views on their way to work or to visit different parts of the megalopolis.
'I am a seagull of no land
I call no shore my home
I am bound to no place
I fly from wave to wave'
